OUR STORY

Radfarm began as a hopeful notion between Mike (founder & farmer) and his brother, Lonnie. They mulled over tinkering with the old family farm, honoring the heritage of the land, and paying homage to the family's roots in this soil. Mike and his siblings all remember the farm when the pastures were grazed by animals and the food grown was what made it to the table.

Over the years, the traditions of transparent food production became less and less common. Quality seemed to suffer as a direct link to the diminishing values associated with food production and awareness. Remembering when food was simple, and you knew the quality of the product because you knew the farmers that produced it, he set out to create that farm to table relationship again.

Radfarm developed out of rebellion to these diminishing values and the corresponding drop in quality. By re-investing in the family farm and the often forgotten farm to fork culture, Mike hopes to bring back the awareness we have lost about where our food comes from and the long term impact our farming practices have on our environment.

Better food comes from better ingredients. The same holds true for meat. Pastured livestock produce meat with lower levels of saturated fat and higher levels of vitamins, minerals, and Omeaga 3. Natural pig farming focuses on humane treatment and environmental responsibility. Research shows that pigs raised in low-stress environments produce juicer, more tender pork. Radfarm's pigs have ample open pastures and shelters to carry out their normal behaviors of digging, rooting, and exploring which contributes to natural muscle development and lower saturated fat.

Mike focuses on human animal husbandry, preventing overcrowding, refusing to use any confinement raising practices common on industrial farms, and refraining from the use of any antibiotics, growth hormones, or steroids. Radfarm uses ecologically sustainable practices, focuses on humane animal husbandry, and strives to reignite the value and quality that comes with meat raised with better nutrition and animal first practices.

Three years in the making, Radfarm is now producing 100% Natural Pasture Raised Heritage Berkshire Pork and hopes to expand in the coming years to offer heritage breed turkeys and chickens.

THE FARM

Radfarm is a small traditionally run family farm that is committed to humane animal husbandry and ecologically sustainable practices. Our pigs are born and raised on our farm where they have unlimited access to pasture, dirt, sunshine, and fresh water. They spend most of their time in the pasture rooting for bugs, grubs, digging , exploring, playing, and napping off their delicious all natural meals.

We believe in raising our Berkshires as nature intended which means supporting their biological and behavioral instincts, like rooting.

NO ANTIBIOTICS - NO GROWTH HORMONES - NO STEROIDS - NO GMOs
100% All Naturally Raised = Healthier & Happier Pigs = Better Tasting Pork

Mike is currently raising Heritage Berkshire pigs on pasture. The farm is blessed with five litters right now ranging from 1-6 weeks old.

"I could go and spend hours watching them, the little ones. They're so natural, the little ones, when they are born weigh maybe 1/2 to 1 lb, but within an hour they are walkin', and then they're running. So tiny, they remind me of rabbits because of the way they run." - Mike (founder & farmer)

Mike invites you to come visit the pigs and learn about natural pig farming. Please call to schedule a time to come by.

"Lulu, one of our first sows, loves rubs behind the ear. She's about three years old now." - Mike (founder & farmer)
